Every photographer has a natural bent towards a certain design style, and this downtown Kansas City elopement may have checked my every box. The Nelson Art Museum with its sharp edges and clean lines gave the photos the modern and urban element that I love. Pair this with Faith’s sleek satin dress, Sam’s fitted deep gray suit, and the sweetness of a late September elopement and it’s a recipe for swooning. We walked the streets of downtown Kansas City and stopped for a coffee at Oddly, and it must have been the most relaxed and intimate wedding day that I’ve been a part of.
I also have to add the more personal element of this day. Faith and my husband Aaron worked together for multiple years and she has been a good friend of ours throughout. Also, Sam’s sister Kennedy–who introduced the couple–was my second ever wedding. This entire family has been a huge proponent to my career as a photographer and it feels like a true honor to capture their photos. It was even more so an honor when Aaron and I had the privilege of signing their marriage license as witnesses. I can only hope it was a sort of symbol of the love and well wishes that we hold for the Buckners.
